Someone asked me, what makes me happy - hello :)

hello :)

My name's Mariel. I'm just your average girl; usually mild-mannered but more often an overly-sensitive psycho. I stare in awe at libraries, museums and other big halls. They all make me feel smaller than I really am, not like more reminding is needed. I love eating, and reading, especially when I have money to spend, haha. My pets count a soft kitty and a shaggy puppy, both of which I only see on weekends. Tumblr to me is coffee in the morning and milk before going to bed.

Someone asked me, what makes me happy

She’s someone who has always been around the past 3 years but we never really talked so much, and now it seems, that will have to change. So on our way to getting candy, out of the blue she asked, what makes you happy. Probably because I was smiling like an idiot all the way from PHAN to the bridge over Kapitas’ tambayan. Just looking happy like that. Then I laughed. Isn’t it weird, someone you barely know yet, asking you what makes you happy. Well, she wasn’t serious about it, but my answer surprised me. At that moment I thought of that time 2 years or a year back when there was an art installation of blue (and white?) balloons at the Sunken Garden. Imagine a football field strewn with balloons just swaying along with the wind. It was so beautiful. It’s something simple, and not really good for anything but pleasure. Well, if it was for a class, probably a good grade, BUT WHATEVER. I STILL CAN’T FORGET IT. There was this other time when fake vegetables like upo and eggplant hanging on trellises were installed (?) at the piece of land right beside Vargas museum. There was even a plant box with squash I think. Seeing them made me smile and feel sad at the same time. We enjoy our trees and our buildings, but yeah, the spare land could have been producing food :)) Anyways, point is, those things were the first to come to my mind when asked what makes me happy. It’s not even something like my family, my boyfriend, a good book, cheesecake or what. =)) And really, those things don’t come about everyday.
